Sun Hats

My friend Jean asked if I would be able to make a sun hat for her daughter Jane. It was a much loved and seriously worn out hat. Despite an extensive search and apparently much trying on she was unable to find anything similar.

I am always up for a challenge, so I unpicked the original and redrafted a pattern. I also scaled the pattern up and down a size. 

I love the design and shape of the brim, it is broad enough to shade the face and is stiff enough to sit out from the face for good vision.

I have made a few using fabrics from my stash so very pleased to have another ‘stash buster’ sewing project. They have made practical and useful gifts for some of my friends.
