Happy New Year

A little bit of stitching to see in the new year.

These have become a bit of a tradition with us as well. Our friends Tina and Frank celebrate the coming New Year in the traditional Dutch way and invite us over every year to join them. Oliebollen are a type of doughnut and Appelflappen are an apple and cinnamon fritter. They made for a delicious morning tea / brunch.

A fun filled greeting from the family

Cheesecake also seems to have become a tradition for  our New Years Eve get together. My contribution to the festivities is often a cheesecake. This year I made baked vanilla cheesecake with a sour cream topping. It was just as easy to make two. This passion fruit version was for my son’s gathering.

This one had branded cherries and a caramelised balsamic and cherry syrup. I serve the cherries on the side, easier to cut and serve and less staining of the cream topping from the cherries.
