Here Kitty, Kitty - 2. Cats I've Made

I like to make cloth dolls and toys. Sometimes I make them as cats.

Felix, the cat, the wonderful, wonderful cat. The body is black felt, the face appliquéd and embroidered.

Puss in Boots. Puss has a calico body that is painted with acrylic paints to look like a tortoiseshell cat. The whiskers are bristles, salvaged from the wheel cleaning fittings of a large truck. The costume is very elaborate with trousers, waistcoat, shirt, cape and a fancy feathered hat. A letter opener acts as a sword.

This plush cat sits in my sewing room and is often stuffed with pins. I have made a few of these as gifts for fellow cat lovers.

With a tummy full of fish , the painted cat swings from the light fitting. The body is calico, stuffed and painted with acrylic paints, detailed with black gutta pen.

The same pattern as the cat above but not as firmly stuffed in the arms and legs. The calico dyed with strong coffee, the face drawn wth black fabric marker.

Crewel Cat, embroidered in crewel wools, the back is black velvet, designed as a door stop but sits on a bookshelf in the sewing room.
