Orange Icecream

I love it when I get a request for a recipe. This one, from my friend, Dianne. I used Orange Juice Concentrate to create the orange flavour. Reduced down, the concentrate becomes thick and syrupy and has a delicious tang. The concentrate was Coles own brand and is found in the refrigerated section of the supermarket.

I think that the next version will have some finely chopped glacĂ© peel added.

Orange Icecream

250 ml Orange Juice Concentrate
300 ml whipping cream

Place concentrate in a saucepan, simmer over low heat until reduced by half until there is approximately one cup left. The concentrate will change colour and become golden, thick and syrupy.

Remove from heat and allow to cool.

Whip cream until semi stiff, add orange concentrate and beat until just mixed.

Place mixture in a container and freeze.

  1. What a tang this ice cream has. Punchy, smooth and creamy, it damn near resets your taste buds. I'll have some more of that thank you!!
