Food and Wine Tour - 2

From Barossa to the McLaren Vale. More food and wine interspersed with some sightseeing.

Our first jaunt was to Maslin Beach. With the tide out it was perfect for a long and leisurely stroll.

A little cairn building

And hunting for heart shaped rocks

Then to lunch at d’Arrys Verandah Restaurant. Our visit coincided with an exhibition of sculptures by Salvatore Dali, housed in the grounds and in the Cube. The gnomes were at the entrance ‘to greet us’

Lots of quirky art and installations throughout the building.

An Homage to Dali, a collection of paintings and drawings by Charles Billich

And then lunch, not disappointed and  every bit as good as my memory of lunch there on my last visit.

My favourite dish of the trip. Lobster bisque, lobster medallion, prawn and crab tortellini.

And passionfruit soufflĂ© and passionfruit sorbet for dessert

More wineries

Another fabulous lunch at The Currant Shed.

Some wandering in the bush

Where I met Gail Kellet, a printmaker and artist. Luckily she had some work on display in a winery.

Making friends with a local

The golf tragic, posing for a shot.

The big Loster, encountered on our way home  at Kingston, an area famous for it’s lobster/crayfish industry.
