There is something to be said for a little get away. The weekend was planned around a visit to the Bendigo Art Gallery to see the exhibition of Frida Kahlo’s extensive collection of photographs and then a workshop to make a Nichos. Nicho are a type of shrine or shadow box style of structure that are very ornate and colourful. We had an early start and relaxing drive to Bendigo in central Victoria via Daylesford for breakfast. Overnight in Castlemaine, we arrived in time to get a fabulous ice cream from Ice Cream Social, visit a very good bookshop and and dinner at the Railway Hotel.
Breakfast at Frango’s. Delicious corn and zucchini fritters with bacon, poached egg and relish.
Espresso ice cream with caramel popcorn from the Icecream Social
My Nicho, a tribute to Frida. The workshop was offered by the Gallery, with everything supplied and the two hour session passed very quickly. Great fun.
