July ATC - Australian Bush

The Theme for July was Australian Bush. When I think of the Australian bush I tend to think outback... it doesn't get more outback or Australian than Uluru. Many years ago I was fortunate to have gone on two school trips to Kakadu and Uluru. The dusk/ night viewing of Uluru was spectacular.

This is titled Sunset over Uluru and is one of a series of four.  It started off so well. I had an idea of a stylised sunset over Uluru. The scene was painted with fabric crayons, then some machine stitch around the sun and rock, hand stitch grass in the foreground and the kangaroo was appliqued on. It was OK and I should have stopped there, however, I wanted a darker, more nightly feel. I thought black tuille will do so  layed a piece of tuille over the image and was quite pleased. I decided to fusible webb the tuille onto the image and unfortunately the glue of the fusible webb totally dulled down the work.

I received these back in the post.
