String Crochet Tote Bag

I started this bag two weeks ago on my holiday to Western Australia. It was a great handbag project for the plane and to work on as we drove around.

It is made with cotton string from the discount shops, three balls for $2.50 and seven packets. Unlike most string bags, it is tightly crocheted so nothing falls out.

Crocheting the stretched oval base helps the bag sit nicely and the double thickness, extra wide strap makes the strap more comfortable and less likely to stretch.
