A few years ago we had a trip to South Australia and decided that it would be good to revisit the Barossa and McLaren Vale, areas that are well known for their wines and good dining. We usually just set off but with all the restrictions in place we decided that it would be best to book the restaurants we wanted to visit and accomodation nearby.
Our accomodation in the Barossa, the Winery Cottage at Tanunda Cottages. A quaint old cottage complete with wine cellar (under repair) and a lovely garden. It proved to be an excellent base as according to Google Maps everything was only ‘seven minutes’ away.
Back seat drivers and navigation team
Picnic in the park en route to the Barossa. Keeping it simple in anticipation of all the good things to come.
Beautiful old stone buildings
Same morning routine... A twenty minute walk to Darlings coffee shop for my morning coffee and then home via the Bakery for supplies
Down to the serious business of... wine tasting
Dining, so many fabulous dishes. This time we visited Fino, Vintner Bar and Grill, Appellation and revisited Hentley Farm. A few of my favourites.
And in between the wining and dining we went to this art exhibition at the Jam Factory, Seppeltsfield
Abundant Wonder, blown glass sculptures by Tom Moore
Visited a sculpture park
Drove around checking out the scenery and exploring a few walks in the bush
Impromptu brush and mark making in the bush
Doing the Barossa Scarecrow Trail. Some of the fun scarecrows on display as you walked and drove around.
Really delicious pies and bread from the local bakery, cheeses, local olives
Knitting, I always have a project to work on.
