Are You Book Enough Challenge 2021

I have decided to participate in the Are You Book Enough online challenge again, I really enjoyed the experience last year of making books that responded to the monthly challenge. 

The theme for January - Shelter

My response was a concertina book of umbrellas. With the the central handle it is really more of an installation or sculpture but with the stick removed it is a book.

February’s Theme - Red

With February’s theme red my mind turned to red hearts and Valentine’s Day.

The papers are folded Origami style to create little pockets, perfect to hold a secret message.

The book can stand

 

Printed/ patterned papers are alternated with plain. The pages are stacked and stitched with the central heart glued to form a half heart. The pages are then split hearts with one half plain and the other patterned.

The book folds in half and is tied with a twisted cord.
