29 Days - an Online Course with India Flint

For the month of February and to coincide with the leap year, an online course designed and delivered by India Flint as one of her offerings from The School of Nomad Arts. I love these sort of classes and challenges where there is a mystery project and happy to take the leap of faith and go with the project. Great fun!

The end result was this Shapeshifter’s Wanderbeutel. It is a a beautifully soft but sturdy bag made from our dyed fabric squares, hand stitched together and then embellished with more running stitch, beads and buttons.

The course began with the preliminary instruction to prepare a range of squares of fabric for dyeing, to make a scented candle and to have a notebook to write in.

So I made the candle, made a notebook, found a nice pen to write with and for good measure added the tin of my own perfume that I made in the last online class, Being There 2019 and waited for the course to start. There was the Morning Ritual which included some writing and then a daily instruction relating to the dyeing of the fabric squares and construction process.

Some of my squares and new folding techniques explored

Nine squares, many more to choose from but these were joined together to make a large nine patch square of fabric. Then there was more cutting and stitching until we had created two rectangles and a square

Finally, there were finished section to stitch together and the bag was made.

This apron was made with some of the leftover squares and an old apron that I dyed.
