Mitchell Falls to Emma Gorge Resort

Another long day of driving over very rough and rocky terrain, not all that far in kilometres at four hundred and fifty but around ten hours of  travel with a couple of short but necessary stops. The first a return visit to Drysdale River Station for fuel and then on to Ellenbrae Homestead. This was not a place that we knew about when planning the trip but came highly recommended by fellow travellers as a place to stop.

This collection of tortoise shells, skulls and old bits and pieces haphazardly arranged caught my fancy.

The sign says it all...  shady, green grass and gardens beds creating a very welcoming place to stop and enjoy some homemade scones and other tasty snacks. The garden had a very impressive stand of ‘Mother in Law’s Tongues that had established under a tree.

The scones and toasties very welcome after six hours of travelling.

We came across so many of these rock arrangements.

The Cockburn Ranges, just as we were coming into the Emma Gorge Resort.

This Boab providing a stately presence along the road into the Resort. The first that I have seen to have leaves.

Arriving at the central reception and dining area.

Home for the next three nights.
