We have had a relaxing 'get away' to Hobart. I always enjoy a trip to Tasmania and have had quite a number over the years. This time we decided to stay in central Hobart and did not hire a car. Everything was within easy walking distance of the hotel, Salamanca, the waterfront, the ferry to Mona, the museum and gallery.

MONA - 99 steps to the top! |
Great food at every meal - it was just as well that we walked everywhere, although, probably did not burn of the excellent pastries that were consumed.

one of the many counters at Daci & Daci - the scene of so much temptation |
We also took an eco tour to Bruny Island which was great fun. A full day trip that departed from the waterfront. Fantastic scenery, lots of seals, some albatross and a sampling of the excellent Bruny Island produce.
An unexpected thrill was finding broken and rusted street sweeper bristles - pathetic I know, but so exciting to find. I managed to add thirty nine to the hundreds that I have already collected from the streets wherever I go. I use then in some of my dyeing projects and also have plans to use them in a found object sculpture.
I also found these rusted things on Bruny Island, they will be good to wrap fabric around for the ecodyeing pot.
I'm jealous. Looks like a great break and those pastries!
